2. Purpose and Scope

This privacy policy informs you about how we collect, use, and protect personal data in accordance with the revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP), effective as of 1 September 2023. It also outlines our use of photographs in accordance with the Swiss Federal Copyright Act (CopA).


3. What Personal Data We Process 

When Commissioned by Event coordinator:   

We process the following categories of personal data:

  • Event Organiser Contact Data: Name, email, and telephone number provided by event organisers for communication and service delivery.
  • Photographic Images: Photographs taken during events, which may include identifiable individuals. This information is stored at my address on password protected devices, and on my website (Hosted By) “format.com

I do not collect contact details or other data from event attendees, Unless I have been asked to Protect Image gallery with a Password, in which case I record for security, the email used to gain access to the online image gallery.  



4. Legal Basis and Purpose of Processing

  • Performance of a Contract: Contact details of the event organiser are processed to fulfil our contractual obligations.
  • Consent: Images of individuals may be processed and, where published (e.g., on the website or social media), only with the explicit or implied consent of the data subject or their legal guardian.

5. Use and Disclosure of Data


  • Personal data is used solely for the delivery and promotion of photographic services.
  • Selected photographs may be shared on:
    • Our websites
    • Social media platforms (e.g., Instagram,)
    • Print or digital portfolios
  • Data is not sold to third parties.
  • We use Swiss or EU-based service providers (e.g., cloud storage) who comply with appropriate data protection standards.

6. Cross-Border Data Transfers

Your personal data may be transferred to countries outside Switzerland or the European Economic Area (EEA) in the following contexts:

  • Website Hosting: Our website is hosted by Format.com, a Canadian service provider. Canada is recognised by the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) as having adequate data protection legislation.
  • Analytics: If Google Analytics is enabled, certain usage data (e.g., IP address, device info) may be transmitted to and processed by Google servers in the United States. These transfers are governed by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and Google's compliance with the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
  • Social Media Embeds: Interactions with embedded Instagram content may result in data being transferred to Meta Platforms, Inc. in the U.S. Meta states it complies with applicable cross-border data transfer mechanisms including SCCs.

We ensure that any such transfer is made in compliance with applicable Swiss data protection laws, with appropriate safeguards in place to protect your data.



7. Data Retention Period


  • Contact data of event organisers is retained for as long as required to fulfil the contract and meet legal obligations (e.g., tax/accounting).
  • Photographic data is retained indefinitely unless deletion is requested or required by law.

8. Your Rights



Under the FADP, you have the following rights:

  • To access your personal data;
  • To request correction or deletion;
  • To object to processing;
  • To request restriction of processing;
  • To withdraw consent at any time without affecting past processing;
  • To lodge a complaint with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).

Requests are generally free of charge. However, in accordance with Article 25 of the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP), a reasonable administrative fee may be charged for clearly excessive or repeated requests, or for additional copies of data already provided.



9. Copyright and Moral Rights

Photographic works are protected by the Swiss Federal Copyright Act (CopA).

  • As the photographer, I retain full copyright over the images, including economic rights (Art. 10, 16 CopA) and moral rights.
  • No unauthorised reproduction, editing, or distribution of images is permitted by clients or third parties.
  • Clients receive usage rights as defined by written or verbal agreement, without transfer of copyright.
